Comic Relief

Red NoseOn Friday 13th March 2009, it was Red Nose Day. This year’s theme for Red Nose Day was “do something funny for money” so Park High dressed up in red and did something funny with their uniform.

Park High had planned to raise at least £300 for each charity and the charities were Comic Relief, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Action for Children. We had many activities going on to raise the money for example in the school canteen at lunch time there was a lucky dip, tombola, face painting, design your own cakes and the 6th formers had created a video for us to watch. There were other children who were doing something to raise money for the charities all by themselves. The sponsored silence was a popular way to raise the money. We spoke to one of the people doing the sponsored silence, Mo, after he completed it. He said, “It was difficult to keep quiet for the whole day, but since it was for charity I persevered.”

We also spoke to another student, Shivani, as she was doing a sponsored run.
 
This sponsored run took place outside of school for a club she goes to; she did it with five other people. Shivani said,
 
“The run was difficult and tiring, but with the other members of the club doing it with me it helped me carry on. Also remembering the great causes that the money will go to, made me have the strength to persevere and carry on.”
 
 
In addition to the lunch time activities, Park High’s annual talent show took place after school. Every year this show is filled with the most amazingly talented people and this year was no exception. The money raised from the talent show was for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
 
 
Overall we managed to raise a whopping two thousand pounds and we would like to congratulate all the students that had a part to raise money for these three great charities. Well Done!
